NPEC How it Works
The NPEC has developed an online facility for electronic submission of data to an online database. Within the NPEC, all hospital and anonymised patient data is kept on a high security server with access limited to NPEC personnel only.
The NPEC has been collecting, analysing and reporting on perinatal data since 2008, using a range of research methodologies. This includes prospective surveillance, Hospital In-Patient Enquiry (HIPE) data analysis, and systematic reviews.
The NPEC uses a Perinatal Mortality Notification Form and Severe Maternal Morbidity Notification Form to collect its clinical audit data. The forms deliver a robust framework for evaluating obstetric and neonatal practices and can be completed electronically through the NPEC online database.
