Clinical Audit Awareness Week 2026
Mark your calendars! Clinical Audit Awareness Week 2026 will take place from 22nd – 26th June. Join us for a week of engaging activities focused on improving and saving lives by promoting and celebrating the critical role of clinical audit and data-driven healthcare improvement.
This annual event, originally established in the UK by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership and the National Quality Improvement (incl. Clinical Audit) Network (N-QI-CAN), continues to highlight the vital role of clinical audit in enhancing patient care. NOCA is proud to once again align with this important initiative and has planned a series of engaging and informative events throughout the week.

We have an exciting programme lined up, bringing together healthcare professionals, audit teams, and patient representatives to share knowledge, experiences, and insights.
Monday 22nd June
The week will kick-off on Monday 22nd at 10am on our social media channels with a Welcome Message from Collette Tully, NOCA Executive Director and Martina Goggin, Founder of Strange Boat Donor Foundation.
Tuesday 23rd June
The week’s lunchtime webinars begin on Tuesday, June 23rd, with a lunchtime session exploring how clinical audit data can be translated into meaningful impact.
Clinical audit data only creates value when it is understood, owned and acted upon."
In this session, Aisling Connolly and Clíona O’Donovan from the NOCA team will explore how NOCA supports the move from data to impact through national benchmarking, dashboards, reporting and accessible communication. The discussion will highlight how audit findings can help hospitals identify variation, support transparency, and ultimately drive improvements in patient care.
Wednesday 24th June
Continuing the conversation, Wednesday’s session will look at how national clinical audit data be used beyond annual reports. Join Louise Brent, Head of Audit Management at NOCA, Professor Ed Gregg, Head of the RCSI School of Population Health and Dr Seif El Hadidi PhD, Postdoctoral Researcher for the launch of the NOCA Research Prospectus, a new guide to the rich data available across NOCA audits and registries.
Thursday 25th June
This day is all about giving back, as NOCA hosts a fundraising day in support of our 2026 charity partner, Strange Boat Donor Foundation.
Staff, colleagues, and visitors are invited to take part in a NOCA Bake Sale at the RCSI, 118 St Stephen’s Green, or support our online fundraiser. All contributions will help raise awareness and vital funds to support organ donation advocacy and services in Ireland.
Friday 26th June
We close the week with an informal Conversations Over Coffee session focused on the role of Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in clinical audit and healthcare improvement.
In this discussion, NOCA PPI representatives will share their experiences of contributing to national clinical audits, the value of bringing lived experience into healthcare improvement, and why meaningful partnership matters.
This session will be chaired by Aisling Connolly, Head of Communications, Operations & Quality Assurance at NOCA.
We are delighted to announce Strange Boat Donor Foundation as our Charity Partner for Clinical Audit Awareness Week 2026
Founded by Martina and Denis Goggin following the tragic death of their son, Éamonn, Strange Boat Donor Foundation is a national organ donation charity dedicated to raising awareness, supporting donor families, and advocating for improved organ donation services in Ireland.
The organisation has played a significant role in advancing organ donation in Ireland, most notably by championing the establishment of the Irish Potential Organ Donor Audit (IPODA) within hospitals. Through their advocacy and support work, they continue to ensure that donor families are supported and that the importance of organ donation is recognised across the healthcare system.
Throughout the week, NOCA will host awareness and fundraising activities in support of this important cause, and we greatly appreciate the support and generosity of all those who take part.
