MTA Benefits

MTA was established within NOCA in 2013, with 26 trauma receiving hospitals now participating. The establishment of national clinical audits such as MTA continues to provide learning in our health systems through evidence-based audit methodologies, thus improving clinical outcomes for patients in Ireland. MTA became the first National Clinical Effectiveness Committee (NCEC) audit in December 2016 (the NCEC provides further assistance in processing data for evaluation and quality improvement).

MTA’s ongoing commitment to high quality data will see it become the foundation of the national trauma system’s quality programme in Ireland. Trauma care involves multiple specialist teams and disciplines; each and every part of the journey impacts on whether the patient lives or dies and what injuries they will live with for the rest of their lives.
Promoting and facilitating the success of an integrated trauma system with high-quality data will enable local, regional and national quality assurance, and stimulate improvements.
