Clinical Audit Awareness Week 2025
Mark your calendars! Clinical Audit Awareness Week 2025 is happening from the 2nd - 6th June. Join us for a week full of engaging activities, including awareness and fundraising activities for our Charity Partner for the week, the Irish Neonatal Health Alliance.
This annual event, initially established in the UK by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership and he National Quality Improvement (incl. Clinical Audit) Network (N-QI-CAN), underscores the importance of clinical audit and quality improvement in healthcare. Over the past three years, NOCA has proudly aligned with this initiative, and we are excited to continue our participation with a series of engaging activities.

The week begins on Tuesday, 3rd June, with a special cross-border webinar, NOCA and DICA in Conversation – Exploring the Future of Clinical Audit. This engaging discussion, chaired by Dr Philip Crowley, National Director for Wellbeing, Equality, Climate and Global Health at the HSE, brings together Collette Tully (NOCA) and Dr Rob Tollenaar from the Dutch Institute for Clinical Auditing (DICA) to share perspectives from two of Europe’s leading clinical audit organisations.
On Wednesday, 4th June, we launch the Irish Paediatric Critical Care Audit National Report 2023 in a dedicated webinar, highlighting key findings and the impact of data on improving care for critically ill children.
Thursday, 5th June is all about giving back, as NOCA hosts a fundraising day in support of our 2025 charity partner, the Irish Neonatal Health Alliance. Staff, colleagues, and visitors are invited to join us for a NOCA Bake Sale in the RCSI and help raise vital funds for neonatal care in Ireland.
Friday, 6th June features a lunchtime webinar, Conversations Over Coffee, with NOCA’s Louise Brent and Karen Hertz, President of the Fragility Fracture Network. This informal chat will explore the evolution of hip fracture registries, the role of clinical audit, and shared international learnings.
Also on Friday, NOCA will participate in the HSE Dublin North East Clinical Audit Meeting at the RCSI Smurfit Building, Beaumont Hospital. Presentations will include an overview of NOCA’s latest publications and a session on the Irish Potential Donor Audit by Organ Donation Nurse Manager, Karen Healy.
In parallel, Brid Moran (NOCA) and Corinna Abbott (HSE Critical Care Programme) will present at a HSE Technology & Transformation Lunch and Learn webinar, focusing on the development of the National Clinical Audit Platform (NAP), a major innovation to support national audit infrastructure.
Finally, we’ll be launching Issue 22 of the NOCA Newsletter, featuring updates from our national audits.
We encourage healthcare professionals, quality improvement teams, and anyone with an interest in clinical audit to get involved. All events are free to attend, and registration details can be found in the event table below.
We are delighted to announce the Irish Neonatal Health Alliance (INHA) as our Charity Partner for Clinical Audit Awareness Week 2025.
Selected from eight nominations put forward by our Patient and Public Interest (PPI) representatives, the INHA is the only Irish charity that supports families affected by premature birth - families of babies born too soon, too small and too sick to face the busyness of the world. They give the voice to these families through their educational, advocacy and research work, they support the families and NICUs themselves and promote awareness of the long term impact of prematurity. The INHA campaign for the inclusion of parents and the family centered care to be the standard in the NICU units based on research that is scientifically proven and HCPs backed.
They are represented in NOCA on the Children and Young People's (CYP) Audit Advisory Committee. Throughout the week, we will engage in various awareness and fundraising activities to support this important cause, and we greatly appreciate your involvement and generosity. This initiative is just one way we hope to give back and express our gratitude for the extensive and invaluable work PPIs do across NOCA.
