IAPD Background
The National Paediatric Diabetes Audit Feasibility Study Report, published by NOCA in 2022, recommended the establishment of a national clinical audit for paediatric diabetes in Ireland.
The Irish Audit of Paediatric Diabetes (IAPD) will support the delivery of high-quality care for children and young people living with diabetes in Ireland. Its development reflects the increasing prevalence of paediatric diabetes, the complexity of its management, and the need for consistent, evidence-based care across all services.
The IAPD will measure care against recognised clinical standards, drawing on both national and international best practice guidelines, to identify areas of excellence and opportunities for improvement. As with all NOCA audits, the IAPD is being developed collaboratively with healthcare professionals, hospitals, patients, and national partners.
