TARN have recently published their first report focusing on ‘Major Trauma in Older People’. This ten-year report looks at the older injured patient aged 60 years and above from England and Wales. Prof Coats will present the findings and recommendations from this report. A representative from the Pan London Major Trauma System will speak to their recently published guidelines on management of elderly major trauma patients.
Dr Conor Deasy, MTA Clinical Lead will provide an update of the current status of Major Trauma Audit in Ireland and findings from the Major Trauma Audit National Report 2014-2015, which was published in November 2016. The remaining speakers will focus on major trauma in older people and effective management of this cohort of patients.
TARN will lead the afternoon session, providing procedural information for MTA Coordinators and clinical leads from hospitals participating in MTA in Ireland. The session focuses on effective interpretation of TARN Dashboards and Clinical Working Reports which are disseminated to hospitals at multiple periods throughout the year.
